MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING - SEPT 30

Recommended Posts

I've had the info. pack now and there are two ways to make donations.

I can let you all have my address ( :? ) to send donations and then I bank them with the Unique Paying In slip that they sent. I then receive the Thank You letter telling us how much we raised as a group.

or.......

You can each make individual donations on-line using your card. Each person donating will then receive a Thank You.

We could do a combination of both. Those who trust me - or have no choice because they don't use credit cards - can send a cheque and those who don't trust me could donate online

Whichever way you choose - I hope you are all sorting out a photo or picture of cake so that we can 'make' the tallest cake? Virtual cakes - such as Gina's above - are perfectly acceptable. I've got a lovely one lined up as the top piece!

Oops, cake baking  Not my strongest point  I'll try this weekend, if it looks OK I'll photograph iy- if not I'll be searching for virtual pictures

I thought of investigating the online payment option, but it might be nicer if I send you a cheque too Lesley, that way you can calculate the total raised by the Omlet group :)

OK - I'll PM my address to all those who ask and I'll also post the online donation bit.

If you were attending a coffee morning in person I assume you just pay for your coffee and cake - according to means.

Dan - I think whatever amount anyone gives is a great gesture and thank-you all for your promises. I can remember times when even £1 would have been difficult for me, but it would have added to the total.

We can have a bit of fun as well that morning - I don't think I can wait to show you my (virtual) cake :lol::lol:

Dan, I lived only a few miles from Dudley Zoo where I grew up, and we regulary visited it in the 70's and 80's. When I was old enough to understand the plight of the animals I refused to go too.

I went back last year and was amazed at the changes and was so pleased I went. My only concern were the tigers, so good news they are re-housing them, and the Orangutan. He looked bored pacing up and down that enclosure surrounded by water, and holding his hand out for food. Compared to the huge enclosure the Chimps have too, it's very small.

We did have a great day out there. We spent some time in a lecture on creepy crawlies and I even held a giant snail  the guy that held the talk was fasinating and he was pleased that more people were coming back to Dudley Zoo, and recognised it was due to some major changes.

It's heart breaking when you hear of poor animal welfare, and of course there were the boys who broke into the zoo not so long back and killed a baby kangeroo (I think it was a kangeroo) Terrible, terrible news.

Glad to see it's on the up.

I do like to give people a 2nd chance, and try not to be bitter, although in this case it was hard not to take an eye for an eye. If we always did that though - we'd all be blind.

I guess we just have to hope those boys have been getting some disipline and have learnt some respect, from adults who do give a damn about them.

Know what you mean though Dan - it's like online yoga here isn't it :D
