Leicester_H
Chikki sits on the nesting/laying corner of the eglu for about 30 minutes when she's laying eggs. Boo keeps looking in on her. Is this normal - I have no idea - but it seemed a long time ?? Thanks, H Edited April 18, 2007 by Guest
Looney
Mine seem to take about 20 minutes in or around the nesting box when they are going to lay
Laura & CTB
Anything from 20 mins up to an hour!
Leicester_H
OK - so 30 mins is nothing to worry about. Didn't realise what a responsibility keeping just 2 chickens would be !! H
snaps
Ours have made a nest in the garden and one or other will monopolise it for hours and then not leave an egg.
feemcg
When they first started laying my Belle would sit some days for an hour and a half! - and if another wanted to lay it would try and climb in beside her! I think they all average about 30 mins now.
Egluntyne
Half an hour is about right for my girls.
chelsea
anything from half and hour to 2 hours here.
Martin B
2 hours That time is not uncommon here also. Lesley, Scramble and Poach take about half an hour. Hardboiled - 30seconds, she leaves it right until the last minute to go into the nest. Carly - 1-2hours!
chelsea
is Carly a big girl Martin? Ella's big and she takes the longest

feemcg
You'd think they would have bigger egg-bearing hips and just fire it out! (I know it worked for me ).
