Stuff on my kitchen worktop...

Recommended Posts

Oh good - it's not just my house then. I make a clean sweep when I can't stand it any more - only to find as soon as it's gleaming and clutter free (don't look at the table - these are lovely granite worksurfaces) my son has made sandwiches and there are crumbs and lumps of cheese and coleslaw spread over a wide distance. My daughter has found a spare worksurface and has made fairy cakes with icing sugar and flour dusted everywhere - not to mention cakes. OH has left teabags overflowing and dripping from the pot before it gets emptied into the compost caddy, and the postman comes with letters and junk that gets put down on the last remaining little section by yours truly to sort out later. Of course then I get rubbish out and leave it on the side because I give up.

I'm sitting at my kitchen worktop now on my netbook. There are 2 tv remote controls, 1 tv that is plugged in and 1 that OH has just disconnected (I have no idea why), the smoke alarm from downstairs (it decided to keep going off - obviously broken), 2 glasses and 1 cup. The lead for the tv. 3 mobile phones, one of which doesn't work  a house phone, a lego board to put lego on (YS not played with lego for ages) 2 batteries from aforesaid smoke alarm, address book and nail clippers. Also a fruit bowl and kitchen aid mixer and food processor that are supposed to be there.

Time for another clean up I think

I should add that this is just the breakfast bar bit and does not include the rest of the kitchen worktop which is just as bad.

We were watching Michael McIntyres routine about his "man drawer" the other day and DS pointed out that I have several of them. Every so often I clear the junk out of the kitchen and put it in one of my man drawers. One of these days I will get round to sorting them out.

If you don't know the sketch, search for"man drawer" on You Tube. So true and very funny.

I have that on DVD, It's so true my oh has three man draws! :anxious:

How coincidental - on the drive back from holiday today I was thinking about the thread I started months ago about 'that drawer', & what I had found. And here we are on almost the same subject

My drawere needs gutting again soon, actually.

I only know this because I have stuff waiting to go into it,on the kitchen work surface :lol:

I have a lovely dresser, which I keep cookery books on, in my kitchen. Unfortunately, it's too deep, so has a nice flat area in front of the books. The problem with that is that it gets full of clutter within a nanosecond of clearing it, so not only does it look messy, but I CAN'T GET THE BOOKS OUT WHEN I WANT TO!!!!!!!!

There, that feels better, and I'm so reassured that I'm not alone in this 8)
