Guest
This is mad the rain is killing me and my hens. The hens are getting on but I doubt it will last. The hens hate to be inside. They don't like the rain. And the rain doesn't make white chickens look good! The girls are messy and it is horrible putting your hand in poo to sort them out at night. Please rain go away. I need to build this duck run tomorrow it is halfway done. I need to build the roof. I know the ducks love the rain.

Guest
It is still pouring it down. The chickens WIR is flooded ! I am going to go mental in the morning if it is still flooded. Looks like the flood brushes will be coming out (just normal brushes i use to get all the water our the run) I need to move all the wet bark as well urgh. Oh well thank you. Good luck with the rain
Plum
Sounds like the run needs a lid. Mine has but got a bit of a leak underneath as the concrete's not that flat will be sealing it tomorrow Again! Blinkin summer
Guest
It has no roof except the chicken wire. I didn't see the point because they have the shed and they love the rain if it isn't too hard. But hey it has a drain right under the door to the run so it is all draining away because it is angled at the drain
patsylabrador
Would you be able to put gravel in their runs, it helped me enormously last winter. It's cheap and the rain drains through, at times they looked like they were on an island. I put bedding on top but if the run wasn't covered I would mix in some sand. I used a combination of all three on heavy flooded clay and it worked fine. Basically I raised the floor of their run above the surrounding ground. Sorry if this is garbled, feeling sleepy after meteor watching last night.
Guest
*looking in the bank to see if moths can come through the screen* I will pay for some gravel then. I will get some nice big gravel.
