Think i have a bit of a problem. I have rehomes a aracucana, levander one and i think it's a cockeral. Basically the tail feathers are very extravagant , with 2 almost pronged feathers coming right out of the tail. It is quite young about 5months at most i would say. Not cockadoodle dooing but slightly worried. I thought the hens had short tail feathers!

I have a bantam Araucana and she has very long straight tail feathers. She fans them up a lot and they are quite impressive. Have you looked through the feathersite pictures?

 

Edited to add: link shows Ameraucanas as they have the same tail feathers as my Lola.

Thanks had a look and think that i do have cockeral Whats also odd is that ALL my chickens have back down to her since i put her in with them. Couldnt work it out but its kind of all making sense now. Gonna add a pic and see what eveyone thinks! No wonder why she wanted to get rid of them

With what little experience I have I'd say it's a boy. the tail feathers on my Lola do not droop, that's typical cockerel

Hi Bennett. I have an araucana called Pom pom and judging from your photo I would also say "boy" sorry. I will post a pic of my girl when the tech wizards come home from school

i have been a muppet, i thought i posted anyone keep araucanas. Then i have just read is also says boy or girl. School hoilday brain me thinks, and also the fact that i am having a heart attack that i prob have a boy and what to do with it!

My neighbours will have a fit if i keep him! I am having a fit that he is here! I have managed to find a home for him , they will either dispatch him fo free or for £5 they will keep him til they find him a home. So i am going to pay a fiver! I dont really know much abou boys but he does seem very pretty and i have given him the name Arthur
