Raina
There's a food plant type place near us. The other day there was 2 lorries Full of Chicken crates and in those crates were live Chickens and the smell that was coming off them were terrible. Some days when it's windy you can smell them from a mile away It's quite sad to thinkwhat happens next
dancing cloud
What a horrible thought Just think of all those lucky ladies that are rescued though (off to give my ungrateful mob a quick hug ...)
MarkBevBen
Awwww I know, I don't like thinking about that too Have to say though, we're still eating chicken and love a nice roast chicken dinner we get our meat from a lovely local farm butcher and their meat is awesome
Dizzy-Deb
oooh thats awful. I am a veggie have been for a few years. I hate seeing the trucks with live animals in, cramped in and on their way to their final destination. I did try to go back to eating meat a few months ago (chicken only ) but there is no way could eat any now after having my chickens. I am funny that way. the bradley bunch
yes i was raised a vegetarian and my mom always taught me that it's not the actual 'eating of meat' that is the reason for it, but that it's because the farming methods used are morally wrong. as Linda McCartney once famously quoted: "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, the whole world would be vegetarian." Raina
I can't eat Chicken anymore after i first saw the lorries,Just the thought of the chickens.....and that smell (i was nearly ) I really wanted to go and take all the chickens with me lol. There were about 50 - 100 crates in each lorry and each crate had 5+ Chooks. They were pretty birds,All white and most of them looking out the crates.
the bradley bunch
oh it's so sad when they're all looking out of the crates you should have hi-jacked the lorry! or booed at the driver at least!
craftyhunnypie
We both don't eat chicken since we've kept chickens. We just use quorn now. It breaks my heart to see those lorries & I can't even accept any egg boxes from caged birds or even barn. I have to squash them immediately. It makes me feel better. I know people save them for me specially, but if they eat caged bird eggs - they will never be a true friend of mine. We are in a local caravan club & I dread the day when we turn up on a rally & the farm is a chicken farm. I would have to go home straight away, I couldn't face it. We have camped on some lovely farms with lots of chickens wandering about the place. My perfect world! Emma.x
MarkBevBen
I always feel sad when I see lorries transporting animals I've never eaten veal ever because of the way it's 'made'

I went through a phase of being vegetarian but after a year or so went back to meat. For a long long while I wouldn't eat beef, lamb or pork. We dearly love our ladies, but told ourselves we still love our food and our roasties so it's not put us off
the bradley bunch
I always feel sad when I see lorries transporting animals I've never eaten veal ever because of the way it's 'made' i think veal is perhaps the worst type of animal cruelty that our modern & educated society allows i just can't see how it's within animal welfare laws :(
migsy
as Linda McCartney once famously quoted: "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, the whole world would be vegetarian." Great quote! I have not eaten meat for 24 years (not intentionally that is). I ordered some sweetcorn soup, which was marked as being vegetarian on the menu, from a takeaway at the weekend. It had a couple of tiny peices of chicken in it which I inadvertantly ate. It was awful!

I'm often asked what meat I miss the most which strikes me as a really odd question as 1. after 19 years I really don't remember what it tastes like and 2. if I missed it, I would eat it. There are a lot of people who really don't understand the concept of people choosing not not eat meat! Migsy - what a horrid soup experience! Bet you felt sick afterwards, I would have done
