Just wondered which way other people with a WIR have their doors open. We didn't get an option for changing the way the doors opened on ours when we ordered it and as we had so many other things to think about we didn't really think it could be a problem.

 

However we now realise that an outward opening door, which is what we had, doesn't seem to have any advantages at all unless the WIR is so small that you don't have room for it to open inwards.

 

So this morning my handy OH has taken the two doors off our WIR and changed the hinges and other stuff so that they now both open inwards. I have to say it's much easier. I just need to find something to keep the door closed when I am inside now as the twisty catches that are on the inside don't do anything now.

I have lost count of the amount of times I have nearly squashed their toes as they start to leap out of the WIR before I even get inside it myself

My human sized door opens inwards and my stable doors open outwards. Wouldn't change either .

My door opens outwards but it is a stable type door so I only open the top part, the bottom is just low enough for me to climb over, I only have little legs. Latte tends to fly up and perch on it but follows me back into the WIR just in case I have a tasty treat

Mine oens inwards, I specifically asked for it to. I have a thumb twist type catch to keep the door closed when I'm inside, if you mount it on the outer frame, so that you just turn it so it's in front of the door, it'll do the trick to stop the door from opening.

Mine opens outwards & I find it fine, but i do think inwards is a better way
