Pics added Anyone own a Labrador?

Recommended Posts

Meant to say as well, we feed him on James Wellbeloved adult kibble and he loves it - especially the 'ocean fish' flavour. He occasionally has the topper pouches and treats from us at the weekend too for instance roast dinner meat.

He was too thin when we got him (27kg) but he now weighs 34kg and is doing just grand. He's just the right weight now bless him. We regularly visit our vet to have his claws done - I daren't do them myself - so I always weigh him then.

He's never had any digestive problems and his coat is always lovely and shiney. He just adores being bathed too and afterwards he has this crazy mad run around :lol:

I especially like this one

Well, the one with the tongue out was priceless, but I would embarrass your dog by posting it

What a lovely colour dog :D

My friend's lab has cut his paw on some glass, so I have been dressing it for them - he's wearing a very unphotogenic boot over the dressing at the moment. He's a big, black lab - not fat, just biiiiig boned

So glad I started this thread...great advice, great pics...just brilliant THANK YOU all :angel::dance:

Heidi can go out today...tried her on her lead in the house...a little practice...and she isn't keen to walk anywhere...my friends yellow lab puppy was exactly the same at the beginning.

when we got Ozzie, the Kent Lab Rescue people arranged for their dog trainer/psychologist/whatever to come and see us after a couple of weeks. Oz has always pulled dreadfully on the lead, in fact it's a complete pain, but luckily I dont have to use it that much because of where we are.

however, I was advised to do a kind of waltz with him - walk a little in one direction, as soon as the pulling starts, about turn and go the other way, and then just keep doing it, giving a treat or a pat when they follow you. it is supposed to confuse them so they stay close!! I've never really had the application to keep on with it.

interestingly though, Oz knows which are 'proper' walkies, ie go mad, run in manic circles, leap in the sea/river etc, and the late night ones when we just go round the block - he's an angel on these ones, barely pulls at all.

thanks snoxy. most of the time he is perfect, and adorable and very much adored. his main vice is greed - the other half found him yesterday with a box of eggs on the kitchen floor!!!! he'd snaffled it off the worktop, and amazingly managed to get it down to floor level without breaking any of the eggs, and was just pushing it about trying to open it - little s*d!!! he's very funny if I give him a whole egg (which I do if they are cracked) - takes it outside very gently, then drops it on the patio so that it cracks and then laps up the whole thing, shell and all! :)
