I have a 9x6' covered run and three weeks ago I covered the floor with about two-thirds of a bale of Aubiose. I thought it would perhaps be a couple of months before I had to rake it all out and replace it, but it is already completely compacted and just horrible, all mushy and pooey

Granted I do have 12 chooks in there, but should it last longer than three weeks? And much should I be using in a 54 square foot run?

I have a run that is roughly 22 feet by 16 feet. I put seven or eight full bags of aubiose down every long school holiday and that sees us through. Perhaps you need it a bit deeper.

My run is 12'x12' and has about 1 1/2 bales down in it. It has been there for 5 weeks with 8 chickens and is fine. I am hoping to change it every half term (about 7 weeks) and at the moment I think it should be ok.

Is it completely waterproof?

 

Sounds like its been getting wet - water comes in tha back of our WIR so the half of the floor is horrible, the front half is fine. Will have to get a glass tarp or something for the winter

You need to keep it dry, rake it through and poo pick which is easy and it lasts ages.
