tokenwelshman
Well, my chooks have had a lovely first summer with us. We've been over-run with eggs, they've tackled some of the weeds which normally take over the wilder bits of my garden, and they seem a happy threesome. However I've noticed today that already their run is not going to get any sunlight between now and probably March, just because of where it is situated. I live next to a stream, and the ground rises up on all sides around the house - so, not much natural light at the best of times. I will aim to let them free range as often as I can (although I'm paranoid about the number of reports of fox attacks so I don't want to leave them unsupervised too much). But I don't think they are going to see as much sun as they would like. I guess this could affect their health, they are going to be missing something or other due to lack of sun. So - any suggestions in terms of their diet, so that I can make sure they stay as healthy as possible in the dark months ahead? Thanks for any advice! Egluntyne
They will appreciate some greens to peck at, such as cabbage, broccoli etc.
The Dogmother
If they don't get a lot of sun, then drizzle a wee bit of cod liver oil over their pellets and mix it in.
