Popcorn
Do you guys remember this web-petition that went round to try and save the 100 yr old allotments in London that are in the way of a path that has been proposed for the 2012 olympics? Well, I got a response back in an email today. This was it: Manor Gardens
Snowy
Yes I got my response today Gina. No more than I expected really. I think it's disgusting - but don't get me on a political rant!
Chicken Licken
Yep I got my reply too - what a shame

Egluntyne
If I was a Manor Garden Allotmenteer I'd be organising sit ins and other sorts of protests...anything to derail the building schedule and get more national attention drawn to the scandal. Having watched The Big Dig and being totally captivated by it, I understand how passionate allotment holders are....it is a way of life not just a hobby, so I can't begin to imagine how the Manor Garden Allottmeneers are feeling......and the site was donated "in perpetuity" so it must be an illegal act. Guest
In a world where we are trying to encourage a bit more thought about our actions and what we eat, it never ceases to amaze me that allotmement sites all over the country are being built on. Christian
Got my email too. Was a bit worried when i saw it was from 10 Downing Street. 'OMG, what have I done now' I thought! Appauling for those poor Allotmenteers!
Mrs Frugal
Got mine last night too and I'm very disappointed. Talking to FIL at the weekend, our own allotments are under threat from the developers too .
Helly Welly
Its awful isn't it. The government are going to give them new allotments but that means starting from scratch, when it takes years to fully develop the soil. I would be absolutely devastated if anything happened to our lottie.
