What to use for a dust bath

Recommended Posts

What a lovely thread and great pictures. You inspired me to get a tub, so I got a nice pink tub from Asda and filled it with children's play sand and a bit of conifer where the girls used to like scratching around.

Elsie has really taken to it and yesterday I saw her in the tub, with Dottie and Hilda both poking their heads in!!:lol::lol:

I put a large seed tray in the run and filled it with sand - they methodically topped it up with the aubiose bedding that I have sprinkled everywhere. As yet, I haven't seen any of my girls actually using it for what it should be used for :? . I feel a bit cheated really and was lookingforward to the giggles and photo opportunities..

I would be interested to hear what works, especially over the winter! Last year I tried putting out a box filled with sand, even placed under the cover it managed to get wet and then turned over, the girls never even considered using it! So far this year I have managed to keep an area dry in the run and I dig it over once or twice a week, not sure how I will be able to do that when the ground freezes over! How often do they need to dust bath, does anyone know?
