what chicken should l get next?

Recommended Posts

My OH went to pick up 2 pure breeds that we had been waiting on for a few weeks and came back with not just the Cream Legbar and Lavender Araucana, but also a Welsummer and a Salmon Favorelle. Now I have heard of the Welsummers before but I had never heard of the Favorelle and I have to say she is the most beautiful girl. She is quite chunky but oh so friendly. Out of our 4 new girls she is the only one who runs up when she sees us and she will already let us stroke her :D

Oh you lucky thing! All of those are on my (very long) short list of longed for hens, but the faverolle is at the top! Please post some pictures soon - the next best thing to seeing our own flocks expand is watching other peoples do so!

Where did your new girls come from? Sounds like a breeder who likes all the breeds I like too... :)

Another vote for the cream legbar, i have 2 both slightly different colouring, and bluebelle lays pale blue eggs and lagoon lays olive green eggs though as pure'er breeds they have stopped laying now for the winter.

They have unique characters though so different from my other birds, they hate the cold and rain and even hide in the coop sometimes to escape it and have what looks like a toupee on their heads also they walk around with a superior air, quite extraordinary.

I've got ex-batts, but if I was going to get a pure breed it would be a Sablepoot (I think that's the right name).

I met a lady with hundreds of chickens of differing breeds, amongst which were Sablepoots - they are small and incredibly affectionate. They constantly wanted to sit on her knee, and were just the cutest things.

We got our pure breeds from Minimeadows in Northants, they are listed on the breeder list on this forum, which is why we picked them as obviously other people on here have had girls from them and been happy with them.
