Woodburner is coming! Yay!

Recommended Posts

Oh - it looks gorgeous, I love that wallpaper! My woodburner has been in for two years, and I still haven't finished the wall around it ... It is actually on my jobs list for this week, I'm not back at work till 4th Jan so I am hoping to get a few jobs done. I'm so impressed by how you manage to get such a fabulous effect on a tiny budget!

dont want to put a downer on wood burners but just to advise people that if you have one over 5kw you need ventillation ie big hole in wall which sort of defeats the object, so before buying think carefully about the output of the burner. I hope you have all had your chimneys lined too

Ours is 8kw and an air brick was on the installation list - when we lowered the raised slabs which were to be the base we already had two air bricks which vented to the underfloor space so it wasn't needed. They haven't caused any drafts or problems.

Thanks for the advice - like most people, I had a HETAS qualified engineer install my woodburner and line my chimney. My vent is in the floor, as we have airbricks in the wall and it's tucked away in the corner of the room, behind the TV. No draughts here.

Looks like your paper hasn't peeled back or singed then around the stove? I'm still worried about papering my chimney breast, as the paper was ridiculously expensive (Sanderson).

I've just had the stove roaring away and there is no noticable change in the wallpaper as yet! The paper is blown vinyl too. Your chimney is lined like mine so I imagine the only heat is passing up to the ceiling, not radiating from within?
