chookwhisperer
This is my first firework season with the girls. I haven't done anything extra, should I move the eglu into the garage or put a blanket over it to muffle the sound? The ones tonight are quite far away but next door but one always goes for it on bonfire night. Advice please!

Steve the Gas
They will be fine - don't bother 'em. Shake a large sack near 'em tho - gone
Space Chick
Mine have never been bothered by them, I think we worry more than they do
Clairey_Fairy
My first year with chooks and fireworks too. There was a display close by on Friday night, went out to check on them but they were fine. And last night one went off while they were still out, just starting to get dark, and I looked out at them, both happily pecking away. So fingers crossed they will be OK. Decided it was impossible to bring them in, as it's not only one night, it would be all week!
Donna C
I have two 21week old orpingtons and i have started putting a blanket over them due to fireworks and frost. But do feel it's more to make me feel better than them
Chortle Chook
We don't tend to have a lot of fireworks round here, but there is going to be a show fairly near this year. I am a little worried about my chickens. Would it be worth putting a few drops of 'Bach's Rescue Remedy' in their water or could that be harmful? It is what I use on the dogs. cooker
This is our second year with chickens on firework night. We live in a fairly built up area, I hear your comments about it not being one night! I expect there will be fireworks every night this week. Last year I woried, but it wasn't too bad and the girls were fine. This year I'm having a panic again because were planning to go away saturday eve and leaving a friend to lock them up...I always get chicken anxiety when we go away, but I expect firework night chicken anxiety will be worse (although I'm sure completly unfounded!) Powerlady
I would think that as they are going to bed so early, they'll all be asleep by the time the fireworks start...I hope A family near me start around now and have them every weekend till after new year.. Wallies or WHAT!!!!!
Roobaloo
I hate this time of year...if only it just lasted a week but round here it'll be all month...it started last weekend, then it'll be in lesser amounts midweek but come friday and Saturday it'll be hell. Then the shops will be selling off stock cheaply and people will keep letting them off. Then a break before New Years... It's my first year with the chickens...and I really hope they're unfussed by it all as I'll already be camped down the field with the horses from 5:30pm until 11:30pm. *sigh*
LizzieLloyd
Mine aren't at all bothered by the fireworks (my cats seem far more stressed by the whole affair). I wouldnt move them unecessarily as that will probably be far more stressful for them and as mentioned the noise will be going on for days so its probably not feasible.
