Space Chick
I want one and thought I would ask the collective Omleteer brain for recommendations. I am prepared to pay for a good one - just don't tell Mr Space Chick I have seen the Gaggia ones, which another friend has recommended...! Over to you..... chick wiggle
Im a real coffee lover and have had quite a few machines in my time, all pretty much of a muchness and to be honest, after the first initial novelty of a new machine has worn off, every single time i have reverted back to my cheap as chips bean grinder and cafetierre. Omletina Kyckling
I have a fabulous red Delonghi espresso/cappucino machine and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. I thought I'd just use it when people came but I use it all the time, never have coffee any other way. I paid around £120 for it from Comet (list price is £149.99). Makro has them on a Makro mail offer at the moment for £79.99 which is amazingly cheap) in black or red.
yvonne
I have a Gaggia and love it, but also liked my old stove-top thingy (like a small double kettle) which forced steam through the ground coffee. A friend has one with pods which makes great coffee, but I always worry that the pods might get hard/expensive to obtain.
Rhapsody
I've got a Gaggia. You put coffee beans and filtered water in and it grinds and brews for you, it tells you when it needs emptying/water/beans/descaling and makes steamed frothy milk. Its like a proper proffessional maker but domestic sized- only problem is I cant drink anyone elses coffee now!
Daphne
I'm told by OH who is a bit of a coffee fiend that one of the most important things to look for is 15 bar pressure to get a decent cup.
Angie
I have Dulce gusto, used for coffee and hot choccie, yet i still have my coffee beans, grinder and cafetier. The Dulce does get used a lot...possibly more than old method if i'm honest.
Snoxy
I can only comment on cappuccino...I too have a Dolce Gusto (aka Gus)...and I LOVE HIM Good luck in your quest to find an Espresso machine
SallyD
I have recently purchased the Illy Francis X7 espresso machine. It comes in white, black or red and looks lovely. It also steams milk and makes delicious lattes/cappucinos. I love it!

chickencam
I have a basic Gaggia machine which is about 5 years old. I think we paid about £130 for it. I use it most days and way prefer the coffee it makes to anything else. We also have an ultra cheap filter machine for larger quantities. I can't drink instant coffee now. In my OH's office they have Tassimo which is a pod machine, very clean and easy to use, the basic coffee is ok.
debbier
I've had a Gaggia Classic for around 7 years now, and it's been worth every penny. I'd highly recommend it. It's only part of the process though: I also have a good burr grinder, and buy my coffee freshly roasted (from hasbean.co.uk - also highly recommended). I am a self confessed coffee geek. AJuff
We have a baby Gaggia and grinder alongside that we really like. It seems that the type of coffee you put in seems to make the biggest difference. We love Starbucks beans.
Space Chick
Have ordered this one I managed to transfer £45 of club card vouchers into £90 with the voucher exchange so saved me some cash too
Daphne
Very swish The clubcard/voucher scheme feels like free money doesn't it - we bought a TV from there last week and I thought £15 into £30 off was a good deal
