Snowy
... or indeed anyone who fancies a look back in time! A lovely set of photos on Flickr of a trip to France in 1966. Amazing seeing the deserted (well almost) streets in Paris; the traditional dress and the vintage cars! Fabulous! ***France 1966***

CallyChook
I think (but I could be wrong) that there's a couple there from the back of the Jardin du Luxembourg, and at the back of Pere Lachaise cemetary? They look like it anyways and are my faves... bit dingy, but very French. I wish I could afford a trip back again! I used to go twice a yr, November and Jan, from 2000-2005. Now I can't afford it even with a cheap hostelly hotel and eating street food. Such an expensive city, and I hear that Venice is even worse?! Lavenders_Blue
These are definitely taken in 1966, right? The colours in the photos are so bright and the quality is so good. I don't think I have ever seen such clear photos from the 60s before. An interesting album though
The Dogmother
Lovely photos Snowy; thanks. The one thing I noticed (apart from the lack on people) was that all the buildings have been cleaned since then! My folks took us earlier this year and I hadn't been to Paris for 20+ years, so was struck by how much cleaner it was.
Snowy
I think they have been transferred from Kodachrome slides. I have some slides of my parents from 1962 and the quality is still amazing. I've never been to Paris - the business of it puts me off. But these make it look so tranquil! I particularly like the ones from Brittany as I have been there. It is vaguely recognisable, but definitely a different era! I must find out how to do it and try to load up my old slide collection. The Dogmother
My folks have loads of old slides and cine film as well. Paris is far noisier than it used to be - loads more traffic, and very different driving styles make for a wee bit of bedlam at rush hour. And to think that I happily drove through Paris all those years ago
bluekarin
They are lovely photos and it is nice to see familiar places not drowing in people. I am sure I have been on the very Tarn gorge road photographed when hubby and I drove down there to see his parents who, lived in Corde Sur Ciel, in our Renault Master van in 1994 - especially the hairpin corners! One scary road that; so much so I had a nightmare about it (driving along and negotiating the corners until we get to one where we just can't turn and fly over the gorge!) The corners on that road get quite high, and are just low block walls, some of which have been driven through But it is a beautiful part of France and would love to go again.
