My dog is in hospital...

Recommended Posts

well, Mum went in at 7am, I can phone mid-afternoon to see how she is and she will stay in til Weds, then I will collect her.

Dog is fine, still not poo-ed (tho they've taken him out on the grass) but they say not to worry, so I can get him at 4.50 today.

meanwhile, I have a pale and wan 14 year old lying on the sofa with "soldiers marching in my head" and a slight temperature... have packed the 11 year old off to school with a sore throat, and I am snuffling and coughing!

it never rains but it pours indeed!!

spoke to hospital, Mum is fine - had op, had something to eat, now sleeping again. no news about what was found, but I only spoke to a nurse so maybe I'll find out more tonight/tomorrow.

(feels a bit weird talking about Mum in the context of My Family and Other Animals!!!!)

dog home later.

sighs of relief all round.

well, all good news so far. Mum's op has been a success, surgeon says it was all removed, some chemo has been given, and he thinks unlikely there will be any more to be done at this stage. on the other hand, it is one of those things likely to recur, so she will have 3 monthly checks. going in to see her tonight so that will be nice.

Ozzie is home, remarkably un-chastened by his experience. he is on white fish and rice for the moment and apart from a little shaved bit on his front leg where the drip was you wouldnt think anything had happened. back to vet for check-up tomorrow for him.

oldest went back to school today seems fine, but youngest has hacking cough and sore throat so is lying on sofa under her duvet today!!!

thank you all so much for your kind words and concern.

Well that all sounds very positive, very glad mum is doing okay.

As for Ozzie not being at all sorry - I hate to say this but think that's expecting just a tad much, I mean labs are just stomachs on legs, if they see anything even remotely edible they HAVE to eat it and before you ask NO he will not have learned a lesson!
