Blue-DiamondChick07
I Know that I said I'd shut down until Spring, but how could I resist Chocolate Orp Bantam & Gold laced Orp Bantam eggs?? Bramble
Oooh, how exciting! I'd love to have a go at hatching, but I'd get too many boys and then I wouldn't know what to do with them! Good luck, keep us posted!!
Blue-DiamondChick07
I'm only egged on (see what I did there) because, so far I got all girls and only 1 cock in my hatches
Bramble
Cool, how'd you manage that? Bet i'd get all boys if I tried and I couldn't "dispose" of them ...
Blue-DiamondChick07
I'm not sure, just hope it continues hatching does get addictive, its very rewarding..
Bramble
I'd love to do it, it's the "boy" problem that stops me, pathetic I know, but there's no way I could despatch them

Blue-DiamondChick07
Candalled last night. The choc orps were all non fertile (wasn't shocked though, the man I got them from didn't really know what day of the week it was they were free so not bothered) BUT, I do have 12 fertile GL Orp banties!! So pleased fingers crossed all 12 hatch now, I'll have a few mouths to feed in January
Blue-DiamondChick07
They're pipping!!! going from experience, they should start hatching out today! I only candalled them once at day 6, so hoping I still get all

Lewis
Did you set them on the 8th when you posted? If so they're on day 29, and bantam eggs! Maybe the weather has really slowed down development I know in the summer a couple of hatches were sped up. Will be interesting to see if they do hatch! Good luck

Blue-DiamondChick07
I have 8 out of 12 fluff balls the hatch was drawn out! Took 3 days for them all to hatch. One is bent, its like its head is too heavy for its body, will its posture right itself in time?... anyway.... a pic...
Plum
Well done They are so cute but the little bent one doesn't look good can it straighten itself up at all. Just curious, I know nothing about chicks.
Blue-DiamondChick07
My poor bent chick
Egluntyne
Poor little thing. If it doesn't perk up in a day or so, I'd b be inclined to cull it. Not what you want to hear I'm sure, but you might end up lavishing a great deal of care attention and possibly money on a chick that might not make it anyway, and could also be a cockerel. Plum
May be worth trying some vitamin supplements for a day or two to see but otherwise I think Egluntyne's right
Plum
How are they all doing. Any news on the little lopsided one?
Blue-DiamondChick07
Growing well now (see avatar) may have to cull the poor bent chick, no inprovement have to consider quality of life
