Round Robin Letters

Recommended Posts

This thread has made me laugh - especially you Alis girls

I don't have strong opinions. Each year OH's father was fond of writing this in his Xmas cards 'To: You and Yours' [so he didn't have to remember names/find his address book]. From: [His Full Name].' And yes, we got one one year.

Ermm...I think it depends on the content. :| I always used to write a proper hand written letter to anyone who might be interested but whom we'd not seen...Then I turned into a vicar & December became the manic thing that it is today so I decided to brave the Round Robin approach but have always tried to do it with a twist..One year it was a multiple choice questionaire (people had to guess who had done what)...The year my DD started at uni it was a map, as ES was working abroad & we'd moved house too...last year I couldn't think of anything clever so just wrote a line or two in the cards - but then got messages from people asking why they hadn't got a letter and saying they enjoyed them.

So I guess they might be back on - but I can't think of an innovative approach at all

I love hearing news from people we don't see enough of - so as long as they avoid the "Samantha has got a distinction in Grade 21 Macrame" route I guess that means I'm in favour, as realistically I know few people have time to write 100+ real letters...

Trying to cut down on cards though...If I have email or Facebook contact with someone, they won't get a card through the post and at church I'm encouraging congregation to sign a giant card and make a donation to charity......Last year we raised enough for a flock of chooks and a goat in Africa :D

I like to send my miserable granddad and Auntie a really annoying RR letter...they sort of disowned me, because my other half isn't white..like it makes a difference! My sister was always their favourite anyway..... SO I send a letter singing my children's praises....really taking the weewee...I don't send pics of skiing hols, as we don't, but will be sending a picture of my girls both holding the school shields that they won....so sickmaking hahah
