blueandwhite
Hi have just realised that my two chooks must have eaten a fat ball that fell from the tree, as all that's left is the net. I know these aren't good for them. Will they be okay? Will secure better in future! Thanks
alet_chicken
They'll be fine. I suppose it's the human equivalent of eating an enormous bag of chips
blueandwhite
Oh well sure they are very happy then!! Thank you, mind at rest now.
Eggasperated
Mine always get stolen by squirrels no matter what I put them in or how I fix them, could that have happened to yours?
blueandwhite
Hi I've never seen a squirrel in the garden, but I didn't think of that. The netting was intact, so I think it must have just fallen and the opportunist chooks couldn't believe their luck!
Bramble
My dog ate a whole fat ball on Friday, I was expecting a fairly spectacularly upset tummy (one end or the other, sorry, too much information), but so far so good, no ill effects at all. Then she thought it would be a good idea to play with a pin cushion on Saturday, hopefully I rescued said cushion before she ate any of the pins!!! kerryegg
Can I just remind people please that the fat balls should be taken out of the plastic nets. Apparently there are numerous incidents of small birds getting their legs trapped and breaking them or worse. As regards hens eating them, mine devour anything they can get their beaks on except cooked beetroot.
The Dogmother
In hindsight, i wouldn't worry too much, but try to avoid them getting at it in future; it doesn't do them any good.
