crankycookie
My two silkie girls have been broody for several weeks now, and I've usually been shooing them out once a day to eat and drink, but there's little sign of letting up. Since I work fairly long hours, I really only have time to pop them out on the floor in the morning when the girls get their treats. I know silkies are notorious for this kind of thing, but I didn't know if I should just let them be, or if I should aggressively trying to snap them out of it. I don't mind them being broody, but I don't want it to impact their health. Additionally, everyone was just starting to get along, but once the silkies went broody I noticed that my larger hybrids started getting more aggressive with them. They all sleep together in the Eglu at night, but I'm not sure if they're "forgetting" about the girls during the day and are shocked to see them out and about, however reluctantly? Last of all, I live in Los Angeles, so the winter is fairly mild here, so I could probably put them in a wire cage in the run, but I've also read that cold water dunks can solve the broodiness. Give that they are silkies (sponges essentially) and the weather is still pretty cool, I'm reluctant to do this at this time of year. Thoughts?
