three days to go just candled the 6 remaining eggs all have either grown or have go bad! they are all really dark with a little clear bit at the sharp end

I'm more concerned about this clutch than the clutch in the summer that I paid money for that Faith hatched out

Dont panic

Once its completely out it can still stay in the inccy for a day, in fact it will keep the humidity in if you dont open the inccy

Only take it out when its dry and fluffy

Flannels, J cloths, kitchen roll, rubber car/door mats and old tea towels make good non slip surfaces

I've got j cloths but will they be ok overlaped on won't be big anough

it'll have to stay in untill tommorow night at least as I won't switch the electric hen on untill it's dry

no panic here  just thorught that hatching this time of year would result in a late hatch not an early one and not a day and half early to boot I can't even stay up and watch as I've got work tomorrow and have to be in Brum by 8am to get a parking space.

I can second the wood chip cat litter after the tip off from Redwing. ( Thanks Tasha) It is brilliant!

Emma.x

J cloths covered with a thin layer of wood pellet cat litter is by far and away the best surface I've tried for chicks - especially if you have the brooder in the house as it cant be kicked out.

I still darent switch the heater on in my kitchen as its rammed full of Aubiose and woodshavings kicked out of a kitchen brooder

the cat litter doesnt look very 'pretty' or comfy but the chicks do just fine on it
