this is for anyone browsing this wonderful forum, who is thinking of getting chickens and buying a cheaper house on e-bay. Dont.

I bought a wooden (well, actually to call it wood is probably being flattering) house as an interim measure between selling my eglu and getting a cube. The house went up on Saturday ..... and fell to bits on yesterday

seller is now refusing to acknowledge any problem and advises me to 'screw it back together?' :wall:

I am sure there are very reputable sellers on e-bay selling good quality wooden houses, so this is not aimed at them. Just do your research first and whatever you do dont buy anything from petcoops or nextdaychickencoops.co.uk

i have had to temporarily re-home my girls with a farmer next door causing them, and me, huge amounts of stress

now off to count my pennies and see when i can get that cube ......

Obviously Omlet make the best chicken housing ever. But if you are going for wooden housing, there is no such thing as a cheap one. You get what you pay for. The more you spend on your housing the better in my opinion. This is where Omlet come up trumps!

well your right you get what you pay for but you carn't buy an chicken house off omlet to house 16 chickens tho so you have no choice but to buy another brand.

the best chicken house i have seen is a prefabricated chicken barn which is alright if you was a chicken farmer but i have seen it in person an it just beats everything out on the market today. here is the link to the site.

Hi Sari - I have now opened an e-bay case - funny that he only bothered to reply to my emails once I had done that  He also changed his trading name yesterday to ukdrillbits (sounds chickeny doesnt it !) maybe hoping the bad feedback wouldnt follow him.

I'm actually taking bets now as to how many days it will be before the wretched thing collapses completely! Its lost two more panels today, I think its only got about 6 left on each side - my bet is another three 3 days

chris_21 love the link, I def need one of those

in the meantime i have rung lovely omlet today and ordered a (cube green) and i have been next door to give my girls the good news (they are hiding in the next door neighbours palatial chicken house on an enforced holiday with 12 other - very put out - ladies)

breaks the bank, but theyre worth it

Put me down for two.

Why not round it up to 10? How fabby are they!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think I'd want to live in it instead.

Glad you are getting a cube. Stupid seller - there's someone near here that sells chickens and has been making her own coops to sell (judging from her input in the Country Smallholder, I guess she's into breeding rabbits for dinner - wonder where she has the room to do it now). We took one look and said "oh how nice" and have never been back! Omlet for us.
