reneepren
I saw an interesting documentary on how mammals including rodents have receptors to taste hot chili peppers, but birds don't. As a result some aviaries use chili pepper powders in the feed and have dramatically reduced the rodent population in a short time. (Problem existing for years resolved in a month.) I have not had rodents but fear them due to all the rat posts I see on this website and the UK Omlet site. Thought I might sprinkle a bit of chili powder in the feed along with the garlic powder to help prevent issues. Thought I would share. Chortle Chook
I'm not sure but wouldn't the chilli powder flavour your eggs? I admit that I have held back from using garlic powder for the same reason.
Chucky Mama
Adding chilli to your bird seed can help keep squirrels away

tom123
The chilli would most certainly taint the eggs from what I have heard. Interesting theory though, would be good idea for non-laying birds like pens of cockerels/drakes etc. Might try that
reneepren
The garlic doesn't affect my girls eggs so doubt the chili would. Will let you know. Renee
