hi

this is my 1st post, please be gentle! I am sure I saw a pdf here of a 6' x 12' run for you to make-for it to be on a hard base covered with chippings etc lastnight...did i imagine it? I just cant find it now and I want to talk v nicely to my other half about it but need to be able to show him

Welcome, this is a great site. Can't remember seeing the plans but I am sure someone will point you in the right direction. My hubby wasn't sure about getting the chicks but is a big softie with them and I have a secret smile when he is giving them treats (when he shouldn't) and chattering away to them.

thanks for the reply-i looked at 2 sites lastnight, and the other one is much smaller and i've been thru everything on it..i think..and ive been over and over everything i can find here too.... :0/

 

Ive just measured up today-we have a small backyard but I have an area that is 7ft x 11ft I was thinking of getting 'penned in' and if I got a classic or a 'go' and we had that raised that would give them a reasonable area. I cant see that they would be kept within that all the time but I work 3 days a week so during that time they definitely would be 'in' for safety more than anything. Does that sound reasonable? I was thinking more towards getting 3 incase something happened to 1 and the remaining 1 was left alone for a while..again am I on the right lines?

Have you tried checking your computer history? Press Ctrl + 'H' to bring it up. Have a look though there, and it will help if you remember the time you saw the pdf file Let us know how the persuasion goes

I remember the plans but cant remember who posted them sorry

 

Its quite straightforward to make a run though, most are made from 6 x 3 panels screwed together, take a look at a few run maker's websites and you can see quite easily how they are made up

I think you would have enough space, maybe if you got bantams youcould have more

Hi Joolz and welcome to the forum, that size would make a lovely WIR (walk in run) and they would be absolutely fine in there while you are at work.

Sorry i cant help re the pdf but like Redwing says, have a look on a few sites like Chirpy Coops or Bay animal Housing and that will give you an idea of how to build one.

thanks for the help-i'll try the history thing-it was the other pc, so i'll do that later!

 

He has agreed I can have them, but it was supposed to happen 'when we move'..which was going to happen v soon-house was going on market at easter-ish...but now, with everything being so bad financially-and me only being on a temp contract, we might wait..but i dont want to wait for the hens..hmm

 

i'll let you know if i find it..

Welcome to this wonderful forum. My WIR is on hard standing and i only have a small garden . The run is 9x5 ft, made by whitebarn .I have banties not LF.

There was a post a few days ago , not sure where i saw it though.
