58 is no age

Oh no, that is sad. He was quite young. It says on the BBC site that he was a healthy person and not your atypical rocker.

Yep only 58 and not a hard rockin type at all vis a vis lifestyle. Just goes to show when it's your time it's your time.

I actually met him on several occasions,as a woman I worked with lived with Phil,so knew Gary,and he lived in town.

She had some stories to tell about the pair of them,I can tell you....

 

He was a guitar genius,as well as a lovely friendly man, and went way before his time.

You could see his life...his hard living...on his face.

But he lived a healthy life with his young wife in the last few years.

 

He will be very greatly missed.

This is unbelievable. He was an amazing guitarist, and I quite agree with you Treekeeper there was no one like Phil Lynott.

I never met Phil,more is the pity....my friend (a gorgeous Swedish blonde) lived with him at the beginning of his fame.

She said he was a true Irish poet.

But Gary came to see her in the shop often,and was charming to us all.

It was the 25th anniversary of Phil Lynott's death almost exactly one month ago. I've been playing some old Lizzy stuff recently, and was thinking of going to see what is left of them.

 

Reports are saying Gary Moore died in his sleep on holiday in Spain.

This is such a shame and it hardly seems to have been mentioned. Gary Moore IMHO was the best Guitarist ever. Parisian Walkways makes me go weak at the knees.

 

Funny I said it hadn't been mentioned much they are now doing a feature on 5 live.

 

My OH has tried unsuccessfully to teach himself to play the guitar and wants to know how someone with such short fat fingers could make a guitar sing like that. An amzing talent and a sad loss to music.
