Just asking if any amateur photographers out there sell their photos online. I have a few pictures I think could be worth a couple of quid, I'm not after megabucks (and I can't compete with the professionals who can command £40 a picture), but don't want to sell for 10p either. I'm not prepared to sell the copyright either.

 

Anyone had any experience of this?

I've been tempted and looked briefly into it but didn't go for anything in the end.

Assume you just put them on a stock image site and wait for someone who wants to use it?

My DD has been thinking about it. She takes hundreds of photos and some are very good. She often enters them into online competitions.

 

I'd also be interested to know how you get on but we have no experience of it so far. There are quite a few companies online that you can sell them through.

I tried to steer my son in this direction but to no avail - if you could make money out of moaning he'd be a millionaire by now I'll have a look at that link and see if i can help him to become motivated.

A friend looked into it once, and couldn't do it as their camera just wasn't good enough, and he would have had to have gone out and bought a more expensive camera. Pictures were great, and may well have sold, but the resolution (?) wasn't high enough or something?? (not very camera literate - sorry!! )

 

Yours may well be fine - but worth checking.

Thanks for the thoughts and the links, especially the bit about the resolution, I'll look into it when I have more time. I've been warned away from the sites which offer just 10p for photos.
