tracyann
Well, it seems my girls are quick on the uptake. They all start squawking and carrying on whenever I go into the garage where their pen is. All of them eat out of my hand, Hetty the speckeldy is the friendliest and given every opportunity will fly onto the side of the run and has ventured onto my shoulder on one occasion, she loves a cuddle too and doesn't flap and panic when I pick her up. Ruby the Bovan Nera is the next friendliest and also flies up onto the side of the cage and loves a cuddle. Daisy is the biggest of the four and eats out of my hand but hates being picked up, Lulu the Bluebelle is the most scared. They must be the only chooks not interested in mealworms but they go crazy for their mixed corn. Successfully changed them onto pellets with no fuss. No eggs yet, but I reckon it will be Lulu who lays first, her cone is the biggest and wattles the reddest, closely followed by Daisy the Magpie and then Hetty and finally Ruby. No crouching yet, but they have started making nests in the litter in their run, bevelling out little shallows. Hopefully I will be able to get the run extension on this weekend (I ordered it yesterday) and will get some more photos of them as they have changed. I still spend more time chicken watching than I should. If only I had more space....
Chortle Chook
"not interested in mealworms but want cuddles" My chooks say "Hetty, Ruby, LuLu and Daisy - git your priorities right"
Plum
Sound a great bunch. Hope they wipe their feet before sitting on your shoulder
