coco
Saffron my cream legbar has been unwell for a few days. The vet said he could feel an egg so thinking she might be eggbound I decided to put her in warm water. My son came downstairs this morning to find a chicken in the kitchen sink eating yoghurt. The look on his face said it all. Unfortunately no egg and she is still not right.
Eggasperated
Sorry to hear about Saffron, hope she gets better soon. Sorry don't see what's odd about chicken in sink eating yogurt - very normal
Chortle Chook
Don't all chickens sit in the sink while eating yoghurt? As you clearly can't keep Saffron in warm water for long, have you thought of wrapping a hot water bottle in a towel and popping her on that? I've read that warmth often does the trick. I hope so in this case.
Plum
Sounds like bliss. How's she getting on? Does son still eat yoghurt
coco
We've been back to the vets today. She said she can still feel an egg so it hasn't moved but she didn't think that was the problem. Between us we came to the conclusion that she has the chicken version of a tummy bug. She had a temeprature and was very sensitive around her tummy area. She has at least stopped passing wind and poo is returning to normal although its very smelly. The vet has given her Baytril and gave her a metacam injection. fingers crossed She seemed brighter when I put her back with the others [the chicken not the vet] . If she doesn't improve and nothing happens with the egg she is going to get me some calcium for her. Edited March 7, 2011 by Guest
