Crochet Chat - Post about your crochet projects here

Recommended Posts

Well I finished the crochet part of my pink african flower cushion cover and blocked it. If you don't block your work then I can recommend that you do (it not necessary for all items) as it does really make a difference.

This is before the blocking

can you can see how uneven and lumpy it is.

This is during the blocking (I pin to a cork notice board covered in a towel, spray with water and leave to dry for 24hrs). You can already see how much better it looks.

I made a cotton cushion cover but am yet to sew the crochet front to the cotton cover - I will finish it this week.

But I have started something new - I know I said I wouldn't start a new project until I had finished the cushion covers but ahhh I did. I had 34 balls of wonderful coloured yarn - Attic24 inspired again - winking at me you know you want to I relented. And have started my Granny Stripe blanket - will show you a photo in a few days when I've done a bit more. Its going to be massive - 300 chains (which is 6ft in my crochet) and I estimate I'll need to to 200 rows to cover our bed. I've done 34 rows which is about 12 inches so I have a looooooong way to go. But will start a more portable project in a few weeks as this will be too big to carry around

Emma do show us your Summer squares. - Photos please

thanks for the blocking info mummyhen, very useful and the cushion cover is gorgeous! How did you do the half squares, do you cut them in half and hem them?

I've finished my purple african flower cushion

I stitched the crochet section to the cotton cushion cover with the purple wool (I split the ply and used 2 strands of thread). I will edge the pink cover this evening and hope to finish it by friday so I can send them off the the recipients :shh: its a secret gift for my mother and aunt.

The halves are individually crocheted likewise for the two quarters for the corners on one side

Thanks for all you lovely comments about my cushions

Well its been a busy week of finshing off UFOs - I had a few so set my self a target to get all the cushions done this week.

Purple cushion - tick

Pink cushion - tick

Both the Pink & Purple have been sent off to my Mum & Aunt as a surprise gift. :shh:

Yellow cushion - nearly done.

Whilst I get on with my Granny Stripe Blanket - 50 rows done - another 150ish to do. I'm trying to do at least 6 rows (3 colours a day). Some day I manage more - some less like yesterday only manged 2 rows. But was out in the evening at the O2 watching Kylie.

Emma - ha ha ha; there must be loads of Attic24 coloured blankets around. Mine not too big at the moment so is still portable.

I have finished the Yellow Cushion Cover

This is the back

I went to a charity shop and bought a yellowish size 14 jumper and used it as the back as suggested by Lucy in Attic24

http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/crochet-wooly-jumper-cushion-.html

I couldn't get my hook thought the jumper so did a row of chain stitch and then the double crochet.

Need to think about what portable project I can do next

That's ok Poet, as I've claimed the purple one - so the yellow one is yours. A portable project. Hows about some bunting or flower corsages? Maybe some little purses or hats. Now Poet made a brill hat a bit ago!

Other than that some Amigurami things for Easter. Lionbrand have 31 things to make for Easter which are very sweet.

You could make egg cozies or a very Royal wedding Union Jack tea cozy!

Just love the bunny and the chicks

Did you get the pattern from Lionbrand - I got their email with the Easter projects but have been entertaining MIL today so haven't done much crochet. Did manage to clean out both cubes.

I must start the things for my easter tree - so may be some Amigurumi bunnies, eggs and chicks :think:

Thank you! The pattern is from Nicki Trench, super-cute amigurumi, but I made a different face for the bunny . I loved making a pom pom for his tail; it's yellow and white. I'm hoping to finish a headband tonight and then I might start the Roxy bunny or make one Attic24 summer garden square.

p.s. They are real. hahah

Its been a while since I posted here so I thought it was about time for a crochet update

I've been doing my Granny Stripe blanket - I've just done row 140 out of ~200. Its been too hot to sit out and crochet so have had to restrict to the evenings.

will post picture shortly
