ChrisP
I think I may have broken my finger, funny ( ) rugby accident last night, and I'm due to go on a fieldtrip tomorrow for a week in Ireland. Do you think it's worth nipping to A&E to just check it's ok etc, and get it checked out? Or should I not bother them, and just take painkillers? I don't want to seem like someone who wastes dr's time, but equally am unsure whether i should or not, Ithe only imes i've broken bones I've known about it straight away, and known i'd need help, then my shoulder... I would be annoyed, but am currently sprouting a cool deep purple briuse on it, so I'm seeing the funny side

Chucky Mama
I would get it checked too. DD dislocated her toe 6 months ago. It popped back in at home but we are now off to the hospital this afternoon as the joint has stiffened badly
The Dogmother
I'd get it checked, they don't usually do much unless it's displaced though. I have a slightly wonky finger after breaking it many years back. CM, I hope DD is OK
Willow
Get it checked and make sure you take your E111 card with you to Ireland in case it causes any problems whilst there.
Leicester_H
Get it checked and make sure you take your E111 card with you to Ireland in case it causes any problems whilst there. Good advice BUT a bit out of date ! See http://www.e111.org.uk/ The EHIC is the replacement for the E111. As of 1 January 2006, E111’s are not valid. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) can be used to cover any necessary medical treatment due to either an accident or illness within the European Economic Area (EEA). The EHIC entitles the holder to state-provided medical treatment within the country they are visiting and the service provided will be the same as received by a person covered by the country’s ‘insured’ medical scheme. beach chick
definitely get it checked, my oldest broke a finger last year falling off a log ( ) and they strapped it to the other fingers for a while to keep it straight.
Seagazer
Definitely get it checked out - ES broke his finger on his 13th birthday, hate to say it but they strapped it but he had to have an op to put a pin in it after a week as it was really crooked. Make sure they strap it straight!
