I've just had a large male pheasant in the garden !

 

I heard a bit of flapping outside the conservatory & so went to look in case my girls had hopped over their fence again & was shocked and very surprised to see a large male pheasant in the garden. The girls were staring at it - but when it clocked me it flew off. I've never seen one locally let alone in the garden ! Was he attracted by the hens do you you think ?

You should try living around here - we are knee deep in the darn things most days

They are very pretty,but even more stupid than sheep (& thats saying something)

 

I had a pair of wild mallards up on the patio this morning - that was nice

He will steal the hens food and may try to woo them.

we get them in our garden, they wander in and sit under the bird feeders looking for treats

We get them sometimes but the dogs go mad, one used to come and look in our dining room window, he was not put off by the two labs barking at him on the other side of the glass

We get loads of them - and yes they are a bit on the "thick" side. When we drive down our road they decide to cross just as you get to them and just waddle across at their own pace. The car engine certainly doesn't scare them
