auntielizzie
Maybe I shouldn't have been putting the bokashi bran in with the food After a couple of days I took the hint as the girls were definitely off their food. I stopped putting the bokashi in with the food and hey presto, food all getting scoffed down again So now I just sprinkle the bran around the run, so Im not sure if they're eating any of it or not any more - am I using it correctly

Well I suppose if could be, although I don't think it is - I got it a couple of weeks ago from Cotswold Chickens. It is Wiggly Wigglers. It is nice and dry, not at all damp, and it smells fine and feels dry and not clumpy at all. Maybe it's just because it's new - you know what these chickens are
52fish
Even on days when our chickens leave some food, the bran is always gone - they love it!
Henchanted
At first, mine where picking it out of the bedding/run mix, so I started adding about 2 fistfuls in with their feed mix which lasts for a week and give extra sprinkles occasionally if their poo gets loose. They adore it. It is for use in small amounts ie roughly teaspoon over the feed per day and/ or mixed in with bedding and in the run mix- it begins the process of breaking down the poo. It needs to be kept very dry and smell quite sweet, a rancid sour smell and clumping could be a sign its damp and will go off. Just wondering if it may be a coincidence, have you made any other feeding changes at the same time?
