3 pekins bathed for Herts Show on Saturday

Recommended Posts

Excellent :D I'm so glad that you are showing too!

Most of my birds are in breeding pens but I have managed to find two that dont look too scruffy and they are bathed and relaxing in a run of shavings up to their tummies so they stay clean

See you at the show

I'm going to the Surrey Show near Guildford on Monday. I've entered some eggs and Pebbles GNR so she'll be getting a spruce up at the weekend. We've been practising being held so she's not a flapping freak. I think she's lovely but then I am her mummy. Just hoping they all pull their wattles out and get on with their best, poop free, egg production in the next few days.

My bantam eggs came 2nd  Redwing's came 1st and there were 6 entries so not too shabby  I didn't expect my white pekins to come anywhere as their feet looked pretty rubbish - but I would rather they ran round the garden all day than have to be cooped up to keep clean :D

Pebbles came 2nd out of 3,

!eggblue! came 1st for colour

!egggreen! came 2nd for araucana

!eggcream! (pink really) came 3rd twice for colour and then shell & contents

!eggbrown! came 2nd for contents

What a proud mummy, extra meal worms all round last night.

Someone even asked if I had any Welsummers for sale as they liked the look of her so much.

Well done Daxigirl  A woman at our poultry club who has long been a very good egg shower (but then she has 100 birds to choose from  ) said she especially liked winning contents or internal/external classes because then you know you must be doing something right. The quality of the egg is a reflection of your regime :D

Going off topic a bit, I have just noticed your signature, what a varied selection you have. Tell me, what are the crevecoeurs like to keep?

They hatched the same time as the La Fleches so I used to call the four of them little Mexican jumping beans, they used to come out and zoom about. They're now about 6/7 weeks and are rather chilled. One has big hair the other not so big so they look a bit Polandish at the moment. Easy to catch. The big hair one is more friendly and will jump up for a cuddle on your lap. No idea what sex they are though.
