KateCooke
I thought all hens layed eggs, obviously I was wrong. I got my hens last August, I think they were approx 10-15weeks old then. First one started laying in Nov, another in December, and then the third started laying in Feb. However my light sussex has not started laying yet. From Feb through to April she laid occassional wind eggs, no larger than a penny, however I have not even had those for the last month. Will she ever lay???? The Dogmother
There are barren hens, and from your description it sounds as if she may have egg tackle problems
Margaret
My light Sussex Marjorie last year known as Posh Marjorie as in to posh to push took ages infact she was about 40 weeks before she decided to lay, but now lays every day and is really placid where as before she was very flighty infact once at a family do she sat on top of the garden parasol and wouldnt come down. Ah those were the days when they were young and I had green stuff (think its called grass) So maybe your girlie is posh too.
Clur
Yep, we had a hen who was too posh to push too. Laid one weird twisty egg, then nothing ever again!
chicken bark
I had a hybrid who never laid. I don't think she ever thought she was supposed to.
Mrs Webmuppet
We have a Pekin who has never laid an egg, we always joke that she is too posh to push too. She's around 4 years old and in fine health ( if a little scatty, she's not the brightest of chickens!). Provided she is in good health I wouldn't worry too much. Just check her 'under carriage' regularly as very occasionally the inability to lay causes a build up of fluid in that area ( egg peronitonitis). Tiggy
I had one like that once too, a Pepperpot one of my first chooks from Omlet (thanks)
coco
I have a cream legbar that must be about a year old. She has never laid, shame as I was looking forward to blue eggs.
