Unsecure chicken perches

Well, after a lot of palaver sorting out a suitable temporary home for some new additions, we finally picked up three Warren girls today

They are Blossom aka Bo, Myrtle aka Mo & Flossie aka Flo. Our existing girls aren't too impressed currently, but I hope that will soon change. Can't wait to see them all bustling around the garden together

Smashing, they are a lovely range of reds so you'll be able to tell them apart. They look a bit bewildered, bet that doesn't last long

The lady who caught them for us (forgot how flighty they are at first) said she'd get us three different colours to help with identifying them. Doesn't help with eggs though, so if one doesn't lay, I won't know. My original three had three very different colour eggs so was easy peasy.

They eventually went to bed about an hour ago! Cocoa, one of our original girls, was going mental and shouting lots and then having a face off with Mo. Flo was cleaning throughout all the fuss - like her already I hope things will be okay in the morning, but I am guessing there will be a LOT of noise

 

Also had a bit of a trauma earlier in the evening as two of them decided to jump up on top of the original girls house roof! Could have been nasty if we hadn't noticed and they'd met *yikes*. I have blocked it off now, so hope they don't do it again.

My lot always do the shouting at newbies as well. They even make a point of going into the yard to stand outside the run and shout at the new girls, rather than staying in the garden where they can't see them, and then run back into the garden still yelling about it Having said that, I've never had any real problems with introductions (touch wood), so maybe they get it all out of their system at the shouting stage - just wish they'd do it quietly

I put my two back into their run about lunchtime yesterday, and after a bit of shouting things soon quietened down. They all went to bed by themselves (well done new girlies ) and there was no sound from them this morning *phew*

 

One things that slightly worried me yesterday was my black chicken, Moonshine, who is usually boss, started picking on Cocoa. They have lived together for the past 3 years in perfect harmony, so I am assuming this is due to a bit of stress caused by the new girls. She was pulling her feathers our of her back, and then trying to jump on her back!

 

Not sure how long I'll have to keep them separate, so if anyone knows I'd be most grateful. And any tried and tested integration techniques would be very welcome too
