marti1066
Sad day today, and I am not sure why or how it happened ........ Got home yesterday and Chav my giant lop ear was asleep in his eglu, he seemed very sleep and no energy, went out an hour later and still asleep and lathergic. I decided to bring him indoors to keep and eye on him, no change overnight, this morning he seemed a bit better drank a little water but asleep and weak within an hour he has passed away ............. Has anyone any idea why this has happened within less than 24 hours?, he fully upto date with his vacinations and was only 18months old?? Very sad, but I am glad it was over so quick and he was not in pain. RIP Chav. xx

franklyrabbit
Oh I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm not sure what the underlying reason might have been but it sounds like he may have gone into stasis, i.e. not eating and therefore not pooing? I might be wrong. Bunnies are very good at hiding their illnesses and so you wouldn't have necessarily noticed anything was wrong with him until you did. Ziggy
Sorry to hear about Chav, it's always a big shock to loose a pet, and this was sudden and unexpected. We lost a young bunny in the past and our thoughts are with you...

Sageandonion
Sorry to hear this - we lost a bunny two years ago - didn't know she was ill until we went to cover the rabbits up at night and she was in a coma - felt really bad at the time but like someone else said I think as they're prey animals they don't always show they're ill and can go downhill very rapidly. RIP Chav.
LolaLayla
How sad. We lost Toby a few years ago. He showed no sign of illness and was only about 3 years old. I noticed that he wasn't moving about much and when I picked him up realised he was ill. I took him inside and he died in my arms. I wondered if he was weaker because he was an albino rabbit.
