Treacle
I am currently saving up for an omlet hen house but what do I choose? I have 2 established hens and 3 ex batts who arrived last week. Do I get 2 Go's, a Go and a Classic or 2 Classics just in case they never get along or a Cube? I change my mind daily!!!!
MissyPip
I couldn't really tell you which option to go for, but having spent 18 months deliberating we finally got our cube delivered and set up on Wednesday...it's fab! We have 4 girls at the moment, but I can see already that it's going to be addictive and we will want more - I'm so glad we went for the bigger option x Edited June 3, 2011 by Guest
snowberry
Also, if you go for the cube then that's just one house to clear out!
beach chick
Also, if you go for the cube then that's just one house to clear out! totally agree, and I find my cube much easier than the eglu - less bending when you clean out.

ZoeBunny
Keep your eyes peeled on eBay for a Cube - picked mine up for £480 (with 3m run) A little sun faded but they are so well made that secondhand really doesn't matter...
ThinkingChickens
We got a go, and then wished we'd saved for a Cube as we went from three chooks to six. Now we've purchased a second Go. I'd say get the biggest you can afford at the beginning!
Henchanted
I guess it depends on your garden, how much flexibility you want, and whether your hens will free range full time or stay in the run predominantly. I have nothing to compare against but I really love the eglu classic so much I got a second (with more hens of course) There are pros and cons with both I think. If you have five hens who can't free range, you would need to aim for 1 sq m of run (ground) space per hen. This is easier in a classic/go plus extensions. You may just get away with one classic/go if your girls are small to medium (as hybrid layers- they probable are) and invest in extensions. Having 2 seperate houses and runs allows you to isolate hens more easily if necessary. If you have a WIR or you can safely free range then I think a classic might be sufficient. Whatever choice you make, rest assured that if later you change your mind you will always be able to resell your hen house without loosing too much of the original value. Treacle
I am now on the point of ordering a purple Cube but my next question is do I buy the run to go with it or a walk in run 6' x 9' for 5 hens?
poppy ben grace
Hi, congrats on going for a , they are great, really nice colour too. Personally i would go for a wir, its better value for money and will give your girls more space than the omlet run. Good luck and we will be expecting some pics when you get sorted! ps, you wont regret buying a cube, they are so easy to maintain, i have had an eglu and cube but the cube wins hands down for me. Farmer Don
I had a similar dilema as am moving 6/7 of my hens from the allotment to my back garden. I was thinking of getting two classics but then decided that they would probably all try to sleep in one of them and be squashed so have settled for a cube now. I think I am also going for purple!
