counturchickens
Well, it's chucking it down! As an allotment holder, got to say I'm not completely upset, but got back from a night away and the girls are not happy about being kept in their run. Not planning on letting them out though as they will get soaked! Bless them I feel bad though!

Green Tea
Rained all day here too My pekins could have got out of the rain by going back in the coop which has a huge door area so isn't really enclosed or by staying under the coop in the dry but instead chose to stay out. I'm worried now about them going to bed as they are absolutely soaked through and I'm not sure that's good for them
beach chick
they'll be fine - although it's wet and windy it is not actually that cold, and once they all huddle up together they'll dry off soon enough.
Nicki85
First time my hens have seen real rain here They are in a sheltered spot with dense shrubs and a wooden fence oneside so hopefully they could get out of the cold! We've been out all day and just come back- they look a little bedraggled bless them! I've just given them some warm mash made with their pellets and a few chopped grapes and a little corn thrown in to warm them up
tinamc
It's only just stopped raining here and my girls have been huddled up underneath the coop for most of the day, just venturing out every now and again for a bit of food and drink! Alis girls
They do look miserable though dont they - I was wondering if I could invent a "chuck- a- mac " - a raincoat for the discerning chuck to keep her feathers ( what feathers - mine are oven ready moulters) in tip top condition. Will get OH on the job hes a man of leisure - watch this space
jennym
Mine were very funny yesterday, I don't think they understood what was going on. I suppose they're about 5 months old, and there hasn't really been much rain in that time! As usual though, Lucy the took it in her stride and pretty much ignored it, pecking about as always. The other two ( & ) were very skittish, running back and forth whenever the wind blew or the rain came down a bit harder But as OP put it, I have vegetables and shrubs/flowers that are enjoying it very much, and I'm hoping a bit more of this might put off the inevitable London summer hosepipe ban.
