sparkysmum
After I lost one of my poots I really didn't think I would add any other hens this year. However I got to hear of these fab Scots Dumpies. Almost too good to be true they are vaccinated against just about everything So hopefully nothing to worry about, fingers crossed. Despite this I will be keeping them separate for a while, just in case. I think they are about 20 wks old. They are Scotland's only native hens and therefore should cope well with our (usually) revolting weather. I can just imagine them waddling about the moorland The black one is Mary Doll (Rab C Nesbit's wife) & the cuckoo is Katie Morag Please don't laugh at the temp accom. Alternative temp accom being dried out. Alli xx

sparkysmum
fabulous names! Is their home the Isle of Struay? You know that scores of people write to Katie Morag c/o the Isle of Struay every year They are lovely stories & my flapjack recipe was Katie Morag's Grannies "Porriges" Thanks for all your comments, all being well these will be the first hens I haven't worried about in the winter or indeed our current summer Thanks Vicki You also get the odd white one.
