The Dogmother
That really is a thing of beauty, but I think they are a tad optimistic about it being ok for 12 birds! I make it 36sq ft so only big enough for 3ish.. I think they went to the Omlet school of arithmetic! I have seen Framebow coops in the flesh so to speak and they really are lovely. I didn't get to inspect them too closely, nor fiddle though.
Minty_76
Henergy have you had anymore luck deciding on a coop? I am in the same dilemma as you still!
Henergy
Henergy have you had anymore luck deciding on a coop? I am in the same dilemma as you still! My DH likes the Feathers Thomas & I like the FSF Maggie 6 lonlegged with run. We are going to visit SF next week to have a good look. counturchickens
Hi, I tried to post this separately, but still don't have the answer really, how many hens should ideally be kept in the cube run? We have 5 in a 3m run, tbh they are happy and not fighting and move round as a group, but I wouldn't have more than 6 in the space, just by eye really. Ours are all ex batts and seem perfectly happy but am getting a bit paranoid now and am thinking about trying to give them a 2nd tier for some more space. Jools
There's an interesting article in this month's Your Chickens about keeping chickens in a confined space. It suggests that ex-bats are the perfect choice if space is limited as it's much better than what they're used to. It makes sense if you think about it. In a 3m run three is good, four should be fine, five is possibly pushing it but if they seem happy then leave them to it
counturchickens
Thanks. Thats what I thought, it seems omlet are a bit naughty about their run sizes too! Mine do have some fr time every day and like I say seem happy, but I could easily have had too many for the space without realising it. renzen7
We have just bought one of these and it really is beautiful but we have 4 hens and would probably go up to 6 but no more than that - and that is with them free ranging as much as possible. I have to say that although as a small company Framebow staff are very sweet, they were not great at giving any sort of accurate information - like when to expect the coop which was 4 weeks after what they initially said. I did a lot of chasing rather than them contacting me. So unless you are a very patient person you may end up feeling very frustrated. I think they have a great product - a bit different, beautifully crafted etc - but they need to sort out their business and customer information!
