madchick
Hi Everyone One of my really nosey but stupid hens has pinched a large bead off a top I was wearing when I was checking a healing wound on her. She just grabbed and swollowed before I had a chance to grab it. Its plastic, flat and about the size of a piece of sweetcorn. Will it pass through her or is it likely to cause problem? I cannot believe how stupid these birds can be. I've seen my birds eat full grown slow worms but they do get digested but a bit of plastic may be different? Any advise gratefully received cheers Madchick
mollyripkim
Oh dear, I hope she is ok. I will be interested in the answers as mine have been eating fallen cherries and stones and I wondered if they would pass thrombin. Good luck.
beach chick
I am pretty sure she will be fine! just think of the bits of grit and slugs and stuff they eat.
Olly
I should think it will just go straight through her, I wouldn't be too worried.
Janepie33
One of mine ate a piece of broken glass she found in the garden and she was absolutely fine!

redhotchick
I've been feeding Bella a nectarine each morning for a couple of days. (They were past their best!). It occurred to me today that I haven't found the remnants of any stones... She must be eating them too! She seems OK?!
madchick
Hi All Not seen any sign of the bead but the Betty the chicken is fine so lets hope things go on as they are. Thinking about it the chickens eat grit which is pretty lumpy but it never comes out lumpy in their poo. Happy but Madchick
gongladosh
We had one once that ate a balloon (of the ilk that makes balloon animals) and she was fine. Never did see that balloon again though. She liked polystyrene too for some reason...
