Which Walk in Run to get?

Recommended Posts

Almost lost one of the chookies yesterday :( to next doors dog! We let the chooks out of the cube whenever we are at home so that they can roam about and yesterday next doors dog got in the garden and did it's best to strangle Ginga. We got there in time, got rid of the dog and today Ginga seems a little happier but not that healthy - the neighbours however are pig ignorant!!

Ok so..... we need a walk in run. Need to buy it not make it (as house renovation is taking up all time). Which WIR would you recommend for 3 chooks? We want to be generous with size although it's only 3 chooks now we will get more. We are thinking 12 x 9 ish.

We are thinking of one this one http://www.bay-animal-housing.co.uk/prod_info.asp?prodid=574 but made bigger. Just waiting to see if the guy will play ball on price.... as for a larger version his prices didn't stack up.

An Omlet WIR would be ok but they are very expensive for the size and we're just not convinced how sturdy it would be (long term).

WIR suggestions please!! (cube green)

One thing to remember is how easy it is to put up.

I bought a WIR from Aviaries4U, which was well-made and came with good instructions. However, there ain't a straight line on the thing and it's not Aviaries4U's fault - it's the fact that I'm the world's worst handyman.

Mine was preloved from ebay, it's 9' by 12' and as we took it down, we knew how to put it up again. I put it up in a couple of hours (on a prelaid slab base) when I was five months pregnant, so worth considering a slightly more DIY option, especially as it sounds like you're handy types :) It was only £200 and then the cost of a van to transport it.

I've got a 15 x 9 from Bay Animal Housing

Seems a nice guy- but I'm waiting on him coming back to me. We are in the middle of putting it up and I've got some problems with the roof (which we can modify) but a load of roof sheets, fittings etc missing... I thought I'd hear back today as promised since it's been going on a few days - but nothing as yet,

THe phone number on their website is now u"Ooops, word censored!"tainable for some reason, but the ones on the ebay listings do work...
