The Dogmother
My apologies for the rubbish photos, they were taken on my phone. We have fields and fields of tiny white flowers near us, never seen it before.
sjp
they look like carnations or dianthos but I can't see what they would be used for. cutting flowers for flower shops are grown under glass
The Dogmother
My immediate thought was of Dianthus, but they are much smaller, probably a couple of centimetres across at the most.

lillybettybabs
Look like field peas to me, We used to grow and feed to the pigs. looking again they don't have any clingy bits, maybe for bio fuel.
The Dogmother
No, no clingy bits at all. They were on Salt Way Karen, just off the Bloxham Road, not sure if the flowers are still there though.
Redwing
They are possibly a green manure crop grown then ploughed in to fix nutrients such as nitrogen in the ground
The Dogmother
That had crossed my mind but I have no idea what it was; a search of t'interweb didn't turn anything up either It was so pretty, like a field of small, white stars. stoice
Are they Borage? Also known as starflowers? You get starflower oil from the plant. Usually blue but you can get white too. Starflower oil has similar properties as evening primrose oil.
The Dogmother
No, I know Borage and this plant/flower is quite different... this is driving me mad now! I have blogged the photo so that Phil can show his Mum - they are farmers and bound to know.

The Dogmother
AHA!!!!!! That's it! Well done Stoice first time I have ever seen it and it's been driving me mad. The fields were so pretty - covered in a lace mantle of tiny white flowers. I will have to tell The Boy not to ask his mother.
stoice
YAY!!! Nice one. Never seen it before though, just googled 'white flower farm crops'. Glad we solved it.
The Dogmother
I've been madly googling 'crops small white flower' I hope that they grow more of it as it's so pretty, those fields usually have rapeseed in them, this is much prettier and doesn't stink. Thank goodness, I can sleep now!
Alis girls
Is that a brown goat in foreground or a bit of tree?
percy049
I think its Clarets dog
The Dogmother
yes it is the dog (but he's stubborn as a goat sometimes so an understandable mistake) and the bits in the sky are house martins which were whirling about. I like the blue version, which I had seen in fields before (and known as Flax/Linseed) but not seen close-up.
