Stevie Adams
After the trauma in our first two weeks of keeping chickens, Eddie our Miss Pepperpot had to be put down which left Patsy, our Gingernut Ranger, all by herself. We've now purchased two more chickens (we were only ever going to have two) and they're settling in really well. Dusty, our Mendlesham Blue, is quite a big bird and so far Patsy doesn't seem to have picked on her, but you can tell she's the boss. She's had a few pecks at Babs, our Barred Plymouth Rock, but already this seems to have settled down. I was expecting this behaviour to last for a while but I think they're agreed on who's boss and they've taken to strolling around the garden together in a group. I have started letting them out of the run already, but we do only have a small garden but the man said to keep them in there for a few days. Is this likely to cause any problems with them settling in? They seem quite happy.
counturchickens
Sounds like it's going well, it didn't take our 2 lots of exbatts to be happy together either. Pics please!
Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations on your news girls . I think they'll probably be fine - they've got Patsy to show them the ropes after all .
fluffy chick
I think that advice is just to make sure they know where 'home' is so they come back again! As long as they are coming back there's no problem really. Pics please
Stevie Adams
I'll get some pics on shortly! They're not too happy being snapped yet so I'll wait until I can get some gooduns! Latest update, Patsy loves them! She chases them out the Eglu in the morning and chases them back in when it's bedtime! Other than that, she just lets them do their own thing!!
