the humungus duck that the 4 H's warned them about. A huge webbed foot hovered above the terrified friends, "QQQQUUUUAAAAAACCCCKKKK" it boomed menacingly. "Watch it" shouted Goatworth "it might decide to sit on us, it looks broody to me!" All at once .........

The 4 H's decided to hatch a plan.

"Where can we find a mate for her?" They scratched their heads. Millipede looked on jealously. "Can you scratch mine too - my legs are too short to reach?"

"Why sure, glad to help"

Hey, said Goatsworth standing on a huge boulder. "There's a big river over yonder - perhaps we can go and see if there's a handsome dude willing to take on this bird."

So they all reached for their flippers and walked backwards into the river so that they didn't look silly and fall over going forwards. Brrrrr, it's a bit chilly, said Goatworth. Come on, I'm going to attempt the butterfly stroke, what about you Henry?

"Whatever I do, I hope it won't be the catfish stroke because I haven't got any breathing apparatus with me". He said gingerly going into the water.

"Glub!"

"Good catfish impersonation" said Goatsworth

"GLUB! GURGLE!!!!!!" went the drowning Henry.

Just then a huge flap of wings was heard nearby

As the biggest drake they had ever seen skid landed on the water sending up a wave that threw them all onto the bank.

'Well that was a waste of time' said Henry 'you didn't get to see my Catstroke'.

The drake wooshed around and with eyebrows raised quacked loudly at them. Goatsworth was sat on the bank quacking back to him........................

"Well hellllllllloooooooooooo gorgeous" said the drake to Goatsworth.

"Erk! Not me - it was that beautiful lady duck over there - she's very lonely you see"

"Oh my, it's Florence. Can't believe I nearly fell for that trick - do you know how many people have asked me to take her on board? She's terrible! She has a thing for millipedes you see. Can't stand them."

"Maybe she's scared and needs to get to know them better. Please help us"

Apparently a militant milli told Florence she was quackers when she wanted to dye her tail feathers turquoise to attract a mate. She took it badly and has, since then, hated millipedes on sight. So, what's the plan then Ambrose? shouted Henry. Ambrose was the drake's name, they knew that because of the name badge he wore on his puffed out chest. It had a gold star on it too as he was the bestest drake in all the land.

"Hmmmm, let me think on this. It's got to be subtle because I don't think she fancies me after last time I tried. She pinched my bread and dunked my head!"

"She may have been hungrier than you?" suggested Goatsworth

"You need something more romantic than a chunk of bread in a pond!" said Henry

May I be so bold as to suggest complimenting her on her soft downy feathers and immaculately coiffed turquoise tuft and whatever you do, don't forget to mention how elegantly she paddles. How could she fail to be impressed with that? said Goatworth winking with a knowing glint in his eye.
