Any chance my boy Thug is actually a girl?

 

Out of the three of them he is the only one not crowing yet. At least I don't think he/she is. I think I'm clutching at straws but I can dream

He/she doesn't have as much face gear as Jack and Dozy but has a lot more than Sabrina.

Oh well, I thought I was deluding myself. I just have to be greatful he isn't crowing with the other two yet.

Please can you reassure me I'm safe with Sabrina. Or am I deluding myself there too? I'm going purely on the face gear because their feathers all look very similar to me.

I am clueless about telling the difference, they all look like hens to me apart from Dozy

 

What age do they start crowing if they are male

Safe but the light on her back is hiding her saddle feathers is she the same age?

Plum, yes she is the same age as the others. I will see if I have or can take a better picture of her but none of them are very cooperative!

Mercedes55, Jack started crowing around the 12 week mark. However I think it depends on the bird. I'm sure I've read on here about boys started as young as 9 weeks. Someone else may be able to confirm or deny that.

sabrina looks ok to me.. I am not the best judge tho ... I look at tail feathers - girls don't get the hanging down ones and at the neck feathers - boys deff have thinner, longer, more pointy ones

Sadly I had to get rid of my boy Nasty Neigbours!! but since this, one of my ladies has taken on the role of colin, by mounting the other ladies... the others seem to just let her get on with her mission... has anybody else experienced this?

Yes my Pigeon does that but still lays wonky eggs. She's a bit confused Budgie doesn't seem too bothered just shakes herself and carries on

oh no...it didn't look like that in the last pic...look closely at her neck fea thers are they shaped as a blunt round at the end or pointed like a pencil...I think that is the final test...but the tail feathers don't look good
