Where's Sheila with that tea tray when you need her........

Oh poor Louise...does it make it any better knowing that I had the opposite problem with water?

Thurs eve..8pm, son putting on hair gel, as Thursday is the new Friday (& I thought it was Saturday anyway)

MUM! COME QUICK! (thought he couldn't find a shirt  )

Mum, there's water dripping through the bathroom ceiling...through the light fitting  He sensibly taped up the switch so we wouldn't try turning on light, asked if I was ok, then went out.

I put Esther to bed etc, no one else at home at mo.

From 10 pm until past 2am I was moving stuff out of squashed attic space to locate the problem.

By 2am, not thinking straight & exhausted.

All I could think was, if I fall through the ceiling (attic not boarded) or fall onto electricity/water & get electrocuted, no one would know!

Not even thinking..oh, that would be bad to die....just that Dave would come back about 3am & go to bed!

Anyway, located the problem; the builders had torn out the overflow pipe from the feeder tank, and it was dripping straight onto the floor.....:twisted::evil::twisted:

Hope this makes you laugh if nothing else, Louise, and that all turns out better tomorrow. :)

Oh my life Sheila...that most definalty deserves tea all round. You put your feet up and I'll make the tea for you and Louise. I'll be there in a few hours. Good job I have a flask

Edit - Make that a few days. Forgot Louise lives near the end of the world.

Anyway update.

Plumber arrived at 8.45 after getting a little lost

By 9.00 I had a huge hole in the ceiling where the plaster was damp  Switched the water back on........................nothing :?

Checked the waste pipe from the toilet........................nothing :?

Conclusion..............................Its the roof

10.00 phoned the roofer waiting a response :evil::evil:

Thanks Gina,

The curtains are only cheap Ikea ones but I like them so I will have a go at removing the stain (and its a big one  )

Not sure where i can get stain devils from round here I may have to head towards town for that. Oh god that means Edinburgh traffic - how will I cope  They may have it at Sainsburys at Straiton (I hope).

I can feel a stain removal exercise coming on at the weekend

Oh well at least I can safely have the water on not so sure about the light in the utility room though :lol:

If you still want to come round for a relax by the fire and a glass or two of wine girls you are more than welcome 8) Just no more water jokes - please

Thanks Gina

(Was that too mush of a gush  ) I will go to Sainsburys tomorrow since I am saving that little chore for the weekend which looks wet and me with a leaking roof  I will just place the curtains under the hole in the plaster and let nature get on with it :(

For red wine stains, I would pour white wine over the stain and then a sprinkling of salt. That should loosen the stain and it should wash out.

The effectiveness might be affected by how old the stain is, I don't know.

Keep smiling Louise! (Even through gritted teeth  )

:( Oh dear Louise ..... at least you did not waste any white wine trying to remove the stain ... not too sure how effective that really is, and a waste of good wine in my book. :D:wink::lol::lol::lol: . The other stain remover which is quite good is .. Vanish Oxy. Graham manages to get black marker pen off the boys tops by 1st rubbing in washing up liquid, then rinsing and using the vanish spray. :P . Now the teachers have finally learned .. and give Ben a red marker to use on the whiteboards (sweatshirts are red  ).

Take care ......

Thanks people,

I don't like white wine so if I opened a bottle to use on a stain it would get wasted :( In fact I don't think I even have any :?

I will try the stain devil followed by vanish oxy followed by the bin

I am having a "Ooops, word censored!" day at work even though it is Friday and I am not working this weekend

Still it can only get better  Can't it
