Louise
I thought it was a damaged pipe Ginette so I switched off the water. The drip stopped so hey presto pardon me for thinking it was a damaged pipe We had 2 days of rain and still no drip but the plumber can't find a leak in the pipe I am getting to the point where I don't care *giggles manically* Joking aside I really hope the roofer calls round at the weekend to see if he can gety to the bottom of it

Sheilaz
I thought it was a damaged pipe Ginette so I switched off the water. The drip stopped so hey presto pardon me for thinking it was a damaged pipe We had 2 days of rain and still no drip but the plumber can't find a leak in the pipe I am getting to the point where I don't care *giggles manically*quote] Spooky that I was sure my leak into the bathroom lightfitting was the new roof as it was the first time we had torrential rain, but it was a pipe. Well, the builders had ripped out half an essential overflow pipe Could have swapped problems. Its obviously got to me, in that now I'm finding that funny when its not at all. But, Louise, hopefully Monday will be a brilliant day for you, where everything goes right. Today, after that horrendous Friday, was like that; Took the car to garage as it was making a grinding/rattling noise. Torn between thinking how foolish I'd feel if it turned out to be a loose hubcap and hoping it would be that simple as I hope to travel 400 miles Sun/Mon. As I looked up the garage forecourt at my car, awaiting the mechanic, I could see the problem! An enormous stick (well, a large twig) was stuck under the car. It was wedged in the exhaust backet so I wouldn't have reached it myself, & was good to know the pipe wasn't damaged, so not too But brilliant & simple. And, the builders really have nearly finished... Then, lots to look at on the forum! What a day.
Lesley
I'm glad that's all it was Sheila How 'nearly' are your buiders finished? (I think that should be in the grammer topic )
Sheilaz
Well, I was going to add, all we need now is the plumber to call, ....and the bricklayer......and the carpenter....then the decorator...plus the labourer & someone to finish the gutters. But, that doesn't sound so promising does it? Oh well... Pondman is working really hard...the 2 ponds are connected & he'll just be a couple of weeks doing the path etc.
Louise
Roofer came round on Saturday and I am water tight again still got a massive hole in the palster but you can't have everything I suppose I have to get the roof fixed properly and hopefully that will happen in the new year but we are struggling to find a decent carpenter for the job. If any one knows one in the Borders area can you let me know Sorry to hear you are having a similar problem Sheila We can have a cup of tea and share our tales of woe
Lesley
Can I join in? (without the tea) We had a Chicken Run roof disaster overnight I had to phone my son at 8.15 to come and help (he was ever so pleased ) It was like S"Ooops, word censored!"heap Challenge meets The Krypton Factor and cold showers for all We have now added to the tarpaulin and wooden posts a selection of line props, blue rope, brooms and a line prop with paint kettle (I think I might patent that one) All we need now are a couple of horses and a pile of s"Ooops, word censored!" The Dogmother
Sounds dreadful Lesley. I imagine a scene from Twister (the film that is, not the game). I hear that we need to batten down the hatches for the next few days as the aftermath of the US hurricane is heading this way - strong winds and pouring rain - DEEP JOY! You mean it's going to get WORSE??! It's been PELTING with rain here for over 48 hours, and it's blowing a gale - I had to clean and move the Eglu yesterday in the peeing rain - I was not best pleased! Please tell me it isn't going to get WORSE!

Louise
Oh Joy shona I love Scotland but there are days when the Carribean is much more tempting At least the roof is water tight I can feel a night in front of the telly with a blanket and some comfort food coming on. A good DVD and a glass of red wine will top it off nicely

A good DVD and a glass of red wine will top it off nicely Louise - you wouldn't want to be in the Carribbean either My sister is now home after 4 years in Grand Cayman. There are storms out there that we don't even hear about and makes our weather positively blissful. Wilma has just affected most of the Carribbean Islands on its way to Mexico. We haven't had the rain which was forecast - I'm supposed to be checking on the defences in daylight but I can't with no rain Clare - I think Twister the game was more appropriate! You should have seen the three of us trying to hoold up tarp. and manoeuvre line props under it No fruit tea either Louise - just chocolate and water (in a glass, not from the sky!) Guest
Wilma has just affected most of the Carribbean Islands on its way to Mexico. [/color] Have just watched a news report from Cancun, and seen the sad sight of the beautiful hotel I spent my Honeymoon at absolutely devestated. Bit of a "Ooops, word censored!", as we had hoped to go back next year for our 10th anniversary.
Mel (& Paul)
Someone up there must love me. I am often out and about for my job and although I have driven through pelting rain each time I stop to get out, the rain stops too. I must have been very good this week (yeah, right......)
